Matthew Russell’s career in the music industry began with his study of Acoustics at Salford, which led him to become a studio engineer in Birmingham. His passion and expertise quickly took him to London, where he worked at the world-famous Depot Studios. Matthew’s extensive experience in the industry grew as he served as the technical supervisor at Sensible Studios.

As General Manager at Cato Music, Matthew designed several rehearsal rooms that have been utilized by legendary bands and artists such as Metallica, Queen, and Kate Bush. He headed up the busy touring department working with hundreds of acts like Muse, Bastille and Haim, which then led him to establish the Universal Music Touring department.

At John Henry’s Matt worked as a consultant for major touring artists and at special events. Matt had the honour of being the production manager for George Martin’s funeral at St. Martin in the Fields, where he worked closely with the surviving members of The Beatles.
Matt established the world’s first roadie school with ACM, which has evolved into the Live Production and Technical Arts pathway.

Matt hosts two number-one podcasts and has even expanded his talents to work with the European Space Agency as a science communicator and launch narrator.
