First Line Support Engineer

ACM is a specialist creative industries education provider with approximately 2,200 students on a range of FE and HE programmes in Music Performance, Creative Artistry, Production, Technical Services, Business Management and Game Development. MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Installing, configuring, and maintaining software and hardware components of computer and network systems.
  • Repairing and replacing damaged computer and network components including network cabling capability.   
  • Supporting people whenever they encounter challenges with computers and network devices.
  • Ensure IT helpdesk tickets are managed and responded to in a timely manner.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Essential Qualifications and Experience

  • Demonstrated expertise in fundamental Windows Server and workstation tasks, including user management and basic Directory services functions. 
  • Proficiency in handling diverse environments such as Google Workspace and Microsoft Office 365, Apple ecosystems, and a hybrid IT infrastructure combining cloud and on-premises services.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Working capability under pressure.

Preferred Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Experience using Apple or Microsoft MDM software.
  • Experience with Google Workspace
  • Experience with Microsoft 365 and Azure Serices

This job purpose reflects the core activities of the post. As the Department and the post-holder develop, there will inevitably be some changes to the duties for which the post is responsible, and possibly to the emphasis of the post itself. ACM expects that the post-holder will recognise this and will adopt a flexible approach to work.  This could include undertaking relevant training where necessary.  Should significant changes to the job purpose become necessary, the post-holder will be consulted and the changes reflected in a revised job purpose.
