Role Purpose:

The Academy of Contemporary Music is looking for an enthusiastic, energetic and personable Café Manager for our new café to provide a high-quality customer experience to all visitors and to take responsibility for the management of the new café at the front of the venue.

Main Responsibilities:

● Responsible for the smooth day to day running of the Café.

● Responsible for the health and safety of all areas of the new café.

● To take the lead operational responsibility for the security of the building on evenings when there are no shows at the theatre, ensuring that The Electric Theatre procedures are carried out diligently.

● To ensure there is an efficient and informative handover to casual duty management prior to each show where required.

● To effectively train Café staff to carry out their roles safely, efficiently and with a strong focus on customer service.

● To act as a key holder.

● To identify opportunities for business development, both with a focus on sales potential and procedural efficiency. To assist in increasing the profile of The Electric Theatre as a vibrant arts venue.

● Responsible for the recruitment and training, line management and scheduling of café staff.

● To act as a first aider (training to be given if necessary).

● Take responsibility for all associated financial procedures.

● Act as the face of the theatre/ACM for all visitors during the daytime.

● To handle complaints and problem solve on shift.

● Responsible for stock checks and ordering of all wet and dry stock for the café, including disposables and chemicals.

Person Specification Essential Desirable

  • Previous experience in Hospitality in a management role (including food preparation and storage).
  • Commercial events management experience
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • A background in the arts, preferably within a theatre environment.

This job purpose reflects the core activities of the post. As the Department and the post- holder develop, there will inevitably be some changes to the duties for which the post is responsible, and possibly to the emphasis of the post itself. ACM expects that the post-holder will recognise this and will adopt a flexible approach to work. This could include undertaking relevant training where necessary. Should significant changes to the job purpose become necessary, the post-holder will be consulted and the changes reflected in
revised job purpose.
